How do I disable conversation view in iCloud Mail on Edge browser?

I use Edge browser to login to my icloud/mail and under settings there is a viewing section that only allows two options: "show message previews" and a "message thread order" which includes a drop-down menu with only two choices: "newest message on top" or "oldest message on top". there is no option to turn off thread, conversation, or grouping of emails.

this issue seems to be unresolved since 2022.
