small tab with downward arrow shows up on desktop

A small tab with a downward pointing arrow appears out of nowhere on the desktop. Seems to be related to an app (Word, Antidote or ???). Clicking on it does nothing. When I rebooted they were gone upon restart, but have since reappeared.

To trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

unplug all non-essential peripherals when testing

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

Same keeps happening to me. Clicking the arrows (left or right click) does nothing except light them up. They disappear when rebooting, but do return. Two is the maximum I have gotten so far. Starting happening a few weeks ago after the Sequoia update.

Had the same problem. Restarted in Safe Mode (Shift key depressed until login window appears). They disappeared.
