icloud Windows - Syncing Trash & Folder Download Abilty
I don't quite understand why it's so difficult to move your files from iCloud to your windows PC. I lost the ability to gain access to my old iMac so attempted to migrate to a new PC. Despite several attempts to do so, the app has made it extremely difficult for the following reasons.
- I can't just download the folders I require, I'm only able to download the single files within the folder which is never how a human would want their files to redo the whole folder structure again makes no sense.
- I can't easily just sync the folders I need for example why would I need my Mac library on windows when it's a totally different operating system.
- The whole process from start to finish for an average system sync which I'd say mine is about 24 hours. By the time the apps finished initializing files before downloading is crazy. I've tried all the help vie been given for example "free up space" and even deleting files to make the process quicker but that takes me to my final gripe.
- To make the process quicker i deleted all the stuff i didn't need because id already left the app open all night and coming back the next morning just showed initializing. Upon tediously deleting going through each folder to get rid of what i didn't need on windows, the trash folder itself too is part of the process and requires syncing too which really isn't necessary is it? And before anyone thinks why don't you just delete what's in the trash well you can't. Well i suppose you can technically but you still have to wait 30 days for the trash to take itself to the dump on mars somewhere because the main website and mobile cannot successfully mass delete more than one item before it pops back into your trash again, with or without an error. I've spoken to customer service who have advised it's because i was deleting too many files at once so instead of deleting the whole thing i tried 10 folders and nothing. i did finally delete everything which took a full day to complete as the system will only let you delete 2 folders on average at a time to bypass the aforementioned error.
Please apple, this is a real pickle 🥒. I spent money on an upgraded iCloud to see if this was just an issue for free users but still to this day i cant download a single folder to my phone or pc without getting an error or it takes the time equivalent of walking the full wall of China in a handstand position . Thanks in advance x
