How to clear space on 256gb Macbook Pro

This Macbook is severely limited on space. I'm just not sure I can work professionally on it.

I am wondering if there are Apple-defined ways to clear storage space.

e.g. I am not using Apple intelligence and it looks like it's taking up 5.45 GB.

It is difficult to tel you what is right for you to do, but I will try. Here are some suggestions.

  • Move unneeded files such as photos or music to the Trash and b sure to empty the Trash.
  • Or you can install an external disk, copy such files over to it and then delete them from your HD to clear needed space.
  • Or (what I recommend) you can install an external disk, install an operating system onto it then copy your HD's files to it and set it up as the startup disk. The solution to your problem is adding an external disk that is large enough to meet your needs. Also, be sure that you use an SSD as they are far faster than the slower mechanical disks. You then operate from the larger external disk. It would provide the same or better level of operations.
