‘WhatsApp was unable to start the camera’ error on iPhone 16 Plus

Well, there’s your answer. They don’t care to support their products and services. I’ve looked at the number of WhatsApp updates since last September. It’s over 30 updates. This tells me they are having quality issues and they’ll get to your issue eventually.

If the Apple Camera app is working there isn’t anything for Apple to diagnose. Try deleting the app, restarting your iPhone and downloading the latest version. If that doesn’t fix it, check every day for a new update.

That error was happening with mine, but it fixed updating to iOS 18.4, since then I haven’t had that annoying alert.

Have you talked to the support team for your app? If so, what did they say? They’ve released 5 updates so far this month and 3 in just the last week. Have you been updating your app regularly?

You can contact Apple Support too. They can do remote diagnostics of your iPhone and confirm its operation.

Does the Apple Camera app function? If so, It’s a WhatsApp issue. Have you talked the support team at WhatsApp (Meta)?

You would have to ask WhatsApp, this has nothing to do with Apple. But as already stated, WhatApp isn't going to support this issue.

Hi all, I have same issue frequently. Just disable the WhatsApp camera permissions and enable it than fixed.
