How do I permanently turn off live photos because even when I go into camera / preserve settings and turn it off when I open my camera it’s still taking live photos 🤦♂️

On my phone I have Settings>Camera>Preserve Settings>Live Photo --turned on, so it will preserve my setting and not reset it the next time I use it.
In the Camera app, I have
turned off Live Photos, and that "off" state is preserved.
Does that work for you?

My problem is that the Live setting / green button was never on but I randomly found it was taking pointless 1 sec live photos, literally having just taken a normal photo a minute before.
So I turned the setting off and then I guess is this why it's taking live photos all the time, because I cannot understand their description:?

It baffles me how a company that used to make brilliant simple intuitive s/ware could over complicate everything in the last few yrs. IOS 18 is abysmal, particularly the Photos app. Most apps don't work as expected either or hang. I am at the point of wiping it and reinstalling it, that or getting a Samsung -- which I've had before. I have to use YouTube to figure out how to do stuff I could do in seconds before!!
IOS 17 wasn't great but it was hands down better than this bloated IOS18 OS disaster.

No because what ever I do with the Live Photos Green Button it still randomly decides to take unwanted Live Photos. A particularly useless feature.
"Preserve Settings." This implies I had Live Photo Set to Green. Is that a default setting for all IOS 18 iphones, that it's always left turned on? I've never had to go to the Live Photo menu before until it randomly started taking live photos, which is why i tried setting it to off.
I still don't knwo what this means: "automatically reset to Live Photo turned on." Reset? I've never had to touch the setting before!
Owning an iphone is like having a really bad full time job...
