M3 Max poor performance - EtreCheck Report

Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing significant performance issues with my MacBook Pro and could use some advice on troubleshooting and fixing the problem. Here are the main symptoms I'm noticing:

  • High CPU usage from various processes
  • System running unusually slow
  • Frequent application crashes

I have attached the EtreCheckPro report below, which outlines the specifics of the issues and system details.

Any insights or suggestions on what steps I should take to diagnose and resolve these issues would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance for your help!

your biggest issue as I see it is having CleanMyMac5 installed.

that app, as well as others like it are neither needed nor recommended on your Mac. it is famous for causing the exact issues you are experiencing. and removing it can resolve those issues. you should completely uninstall it using the developer's instructions.

There is some kind of race condition between your Synology software, one or more Finder sync extensions, and the folder actions dispatcher. I think the folder actions dispatcher is related to the Synology software, and is ultimate the cause of the problem.

I use Synology Drive Client to synchronize my Downloads and Music folders with another MacBook, primarily for DJ software purposes. The other folder tasks are unrelated to the Synology Drive Client. I have an Automator automation that detects when the Loupedeck CT, identified as LD_Drive, is connected and runs a loop until the Loupedeck is disconnected, automatically closing the programs started. I'm aware that the loop consumes resources but thought it was manageable. Additionally, Hazel automations monitor the Downloads folder, converting various file types and moving files from SD cards to a specific subfolder for preprocessing. Non-MP3 music files are also copied to a subfolder in the Music directory (this includes iTunes purchases), converted, and moved back to the Downloads folder. Except for the Downloads folder, all folders monitored by Hazel are excluded from Synology Drive Client synchronization. There is an overlap between Automator actions and Hazel in the Drive folder, which could potentially lead to issues.

Thank you for the help.
