iStat Menus M4 Mini Compatibility

Hey y'all, I find iStat Menus so classy and useful (even compared to similar tools) that I put it on every Mac I get.

However the results for the M4 Mini are sadly depleted of information compared to other Macs I own. An M1 MBP with M1 pro has abundant sensor information, there's less for the M2 Mac Mini as it has fewer cores. But for the M4 Mac Mini its reduced down to about the level of activity monitor. This remains the case when I export my sensor configuration from the M1 version and import it into the M4, update the platform profile, and reset the sensor filtering.

Has anyone else experienced this or heard about a timescale for getting HW support needed for iStat Menus to be able to provide its usual range of sensor information on the M4 Mini?

I miss spoke when I said,

"Because those are the only temp. sensors in the M4 Mac mini"

I should have only said,

"For a second opinion, test another Utility like MacFanControl or TGPro"

"Then if those utilities report more sensors, take it up with iStat Menus Support"

--------

Good job if you fixed it on your own.

However, the developer needs to know so that he can fix it for other M4 Mac mini users.

Yeh - I didn't think that in every other apple-silicon chip there would be per-core sensors but apple would go to a single per-chip sensor in the M4.

TGPro shows 10 cpu-core temperature sensors, and 5 gpu-cluster temperature sensors.

So iStat menus is definitely missing something. If no one else on here has any information, I'll have to go bother the developer (which I didn't want to do as I was hassling him yesterday about getting some licenses upgraded and he was extremely helpful and patient)

There is your answer.

The developer is the only one that can fix the problem.

@den.thed Well thank you for that captain obvious. My original question was ... where are all the core-level sensor readings on the M4s. And I was hoping to hear from the community regarding whether there was a platform update on the way for iStats or if I'd missed an option. A good way to annoy developers is by asking them lots of questions they've already answered to other community members, so I try to avoid that.

Your first answer was "there are no additional sensors" ... Bzzzzzzt. Wrong and not the original assumption.

Your next answer was " yes there are missing sensor readings, so ... I've solved the problem". But that is not an answer - that was the initial question!

So I don't think this gets us as far as it could.

With apologies to other level 10 members who have suggested great solutions to my previous questions.

Ok, I had the brief response below from Bjango which at least confirms that the issues lies in the platform configuration at their end rather than the settings at the user end:

Hi <snip>,

Unfortunately we are still limited on sensors for the M4's. We are looking in to this further.

Kind regards,
