How do I erase data on old iPhone 7 Plus & deactivate it?

I set up new iPhone 16plus from iPhone 7plus. Old phone still says 2 mins left & is active ie: old phone rings. New phone looks like everything transferred. How do I erase data on old phone & deactivate?

If the old phone still rings … it sounds like the number (nanoSIM / eSIM) wasn’t transferred.

(assuming that you’re keeping the same phone number)

Contact your carrier.

You KNOW the old phone is “clean” when upon power-up it presents a “select language” screen and a cursive script “Hello”
