Lost the ability in Messages to reply to 1 specific text message chain

I have lots of text messages on my iphone.

On *1* of them, I am unable to Reply or add an emotion.

It works just fine on all of the other text messages -- I know it's not a network problem, it's not a connectivity problem, it's not an iOS problem.

My husband (sitting right next to me) is on the same chain. He can still Reply and add emotions on this chain.

My imessage is not showing me a text box to respond in. I have a group of two people that I text with every day. The three of us send text and pictures daily. About a week ago, I could not respond to that text group because the text box does not appear. Therefore no keyboard is prompted. All of my other text groups work fine. I can force a response to that group by going to a photo, then sending it to that group. That action initiates a new conversation to the group. The other group members see the response as a normal response in the conversation thread. After a few minutes, (I suppose when iMessage performa the synch across my Mac, iPad, and phone) the same problem returns and I am no longer able to reply to that text group. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I went to the Genius Bar and they wiped and reloaded my phone. It seems to have worked, but after I left the store, the problem returned.

messages not attached to original message I have an iPhone 14 pro using IOS 16.3. Usually, when I send a text to one or more people as a group, their responses come back with the original message. For some reason, since the last update I think, the responses now come as a separate message. This makes it difficult to ascertain which message people are responding to. In other words, if a send a message to A, B, and C and they respond, each response comes back as an individual message. If I have also sent a completely different message to A, E and F, their responses also come back as individual messages. So if A responds yes, I have no idea which message he is responding to. Hopefully I have made the problem clear. Is there a setting I am missing somewhere that would fix this? I have looked everywhere for one and haven't seen any other complaints so I must be missing something. Thanks, Susan

iMessage on iPad 10 running iOS 18.3.2 An iMessage conversation with two other people on my iPad receives text fine but I am unable to reply. I have no problem with the same conversation on my iPhone SE running 15.8.3. The contacts are synced on both devices. There are many other conversations that have no issues on either device. The only clue is this started when one of the other people texted me while I was driving outside my area code. We have all deleted the conversation and started new but same problem. Opened and closed iMessage many times. Rebooted the iPad by power off and on. No luck.

i take it we can assume that this a ANOTHER known issue that frequently occurs, and which apple has zero interest or energy tp expend actually helping with???

"sorry there is a problem on our end with your thousand dollar phone that isn't working properly. go ahead and find 500 other people having the same problem, and we will reply with the exact same solution of restarting your phone, which we give every single complaint. then after 498 of you say it didn't work, we'll go ahead and close the post for comments so no one can see that it's been going on for four years and 5 updates but still has never been fixed. have a nice day. thanks for the money. looks like you're on your own"
