Stop desktop icons from rearranging on reboot Sequioa

I've been having the same problem with Sequoia and drives on my Desktop. I've. tried the fixes posed in this topic by den.thed and tbirdvet with no success. Even after servers grid spacing changes and resizing of icons.

What I've finally done is make aliases of each of the drives that normally show on my Desktop, add the same icons as the drives (all have custom icons) and turn off the Finder's viewing of Hard Drives and External Disks in Finder's General settings pane:

It's not an elegant fix but works for me.

Sort by none, arrange the icons then back to snap to grid. You may have to adjust the grid spacing. Many have reported this issues but I was able to finally get all to stick at the desired location after doing what I have stated.

This is very irritating, the system just randomly decides to move these icons for some unknown reason. so far its only mounted drives and network shares.

Finder Desktop sort by = none.

Changing grid size does nothing

I've just tried the snap to grid <> none I'll report back

Control (right) click on your desktop > select Sort by > check None.
