Should I create a new MacBook Pro Apple ID or use the same as my older MacBook Pro?

Should I create a new MacBook Pro Apple ID or use the same as my older MacBook Pro? Apple has my ID information that I use for my older Apple MacBook Pro and current iPhone SE. I'm purchasing a new MacBook Pro tomorrow. When I turn it on it'll ask me to create a new ID for the new computer or should I use the same one? I'm not going to sync it together, because my older 2014 MacBookPro Catalina 10.16.7 works well except it can't install the latest operating systems, it's extremely slow and without the latest security updates it's not safe for internet access anymore. I'm using it tonight -- to get help.

Congratulations on your new Mac - and the wisdom to know to upgrade your hardware when it can no longer keep you up to date.

Continue to use the same account. This is your identity with all Apple services, not just the hardware

Just one. Use the same Apple Account everywhere you sign in to ensure that all your Apple services and devices work together seamlessly and you can access your personal information from all your devices.

Which password are you asking about? The Apple Account (which relates to your initial question), or the passcode for your Mac?

If you want to change the Apple Account password have a look at how to do it in

In doing this it seems to be recommended that you use the option to sign out of your Apple Account on all other devices. This will then require you to sign in on them using your new Apple Account password.

If you want to change the passcode on a device - the one used to get into a Mac or iOS device - then read:

Thank you for your timely advice. The password should probably be updated to be more secure with numbers and characters. I'll use it for my new MacBook Pro but how do I change it for all 3 devices? Do you agree? Based on the current climate of hacking, I'm concerned for security. Thank you.
