How to mirror an iPad to Samsung TV?

Hi, I need help with my iPad. I’m trying to mirror my screen on a Samsung TV, but the TV doesn’t appear in the list of available devices. Any idea what could be wrong?

I was able to mirror my screen at the office to another Samsung TV, but it was a different model

Does your Samsung TV support AirPlay? If yes, this likely feature may need to be enabled in your TV settings - after which the iPad should be able to connect wirelessly.

Use AirPlay to stream video or mirror the screen of your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Otherwise, you will be able to connect directly using an HDMI cable and a suitable adapter. The iPad User Guide provides details:

Connect iPad to a display with a cable - Apple Support

If your iPad has a Lightning port, you will require an Apple Lightning to Digital AV Adapter along with a suitable HDMI cable - or a Lightning to VGA Adapter for older monitors that only have a corresponding analogue video input.

  • Lightning Digital AV Adapter

If instead your iPad has a USB-C port, the equivalent Adapters for HDMI:

to airplay to a tv the tv has to support airplay not all tvs do

some tv's rely on chromecast or miracast (you may be able to find some apps in app store which would work if it does that but the airplay out of the box will not)

could also be your tv manufacture made their own std. in which case you should look in app store for their app

and then of cause some tv's may not support wireless mirroring at all in which case

one can look for a wired option

if it's a usb-c ipad then USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter - Apple

if it's a ligthingbolt then Lightning Digital AV Adapter - Lightning to HDMI - Apple

or get an appletv box Apple TV 4K - Apple

Make sure the Samsung model is listed as a compatible option - Apple TV app - Devices - Apple (EG)

Sometimes, AirPlay might be turned off in the settings. If that’s the case, go to the TV settings and enable AirPlay.

If your TV doesn’t show up in the list, it’s likely not compatible with AirPlay 2. A streaming device could be an alternative in this scenario as mentioned by Rudegar.

Chromecast offers a relatively affordable and functional solution, although it lacks native AirPlay functionality. You’d need third-party apps for screen mirroring.

I’d recommend Roku, as many of its models support AirPlay directly.

It seems the Samsung TV is not compatible with AirPlay as indicated earlier.

If the feature were supported the device name would show up, but the provided image reflects no such connection.

To mirror an iPad wirelessly to a Samsung TV, specialized mirroring apps can be helpful. A suggestion is DoCast. It performs well with Samsung TV and other TV brands, offering more than just mirroring it allows photo and video streaming which often proves more practical.

Other apps worth considering are Screen Mirroring Samsung TV or TV Cast for Samsung TV App. They function effectively but have limited compatibility, primarily with Samsung TV.

An alternative is connecting the iPad using a cable. Read here - https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/ipad/ipadf1276cde/ipados

However this method might not be convenient due to the need to stay near the TV while using it.

If you didn’t find your Samsung model in the list of AirPlay-compatible TVs, as advised above, your TV most likely doesn’t support this technology.

I would recommend using a cable if you need to mirror your screen for a short time.

However, if you frequently share your iPad screen to a Samsung TV and want a comfortable experience, try the mirroring app DoCast https://apps.apple.com/us/app/docast-screen-mirroring-to-tv/id6446948344

It works quite well with Samsung. I’ve also tested it on other TVs, and there were no issues.
