Facing call quality issues on AirPods (3rd generation)

I am on my third pair of Airpods and with each one, after about a month, no one can hear me speaking clearly on phone calls. This happened both my my iPhone 13 and now my new 14. I even went with the 3rd Generation because they said it was the best call quality but, yet again, after about 30 days every caller tells me I sound like I'm way in the background and they can barely hear me. I don't misuse them ever. I have tried turning my phone on and off, hitting "forget device" then repairing, and nothing works. Any fix would be greatly appreciated.

IME, AirPods simply don't work that well for phone calls, a lot of the time.


I am using AirPods Pro, first generation, and an iPhone 16. I have two pairs, actually, of those same AirPods.


I mainly use my AirPods to listen to music and videos / podcasts.


For phone calls (esp. work-related), I use my EarPods (wired).
