Does it only happens at home, or also trying to connect your iPad to a different wifi network?

Should be the latter, try all the steps provided in this support article (specifically point #7):--> If your iPhone or iPad won't connect to a Wi-Fi network

Should be the former:

  • Turn off all your devices
  • Turn off your modem router for at least one minute
  • Turn your modem router back on and wait for its complete autoconfiguration (it might take 3-5 minutes or more)
  • Turn your iPad on and connect it to your wifi network, making sure it has Internet acccess.

If you still get no help, make an appointment (*) and have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) among this list:--> https://locate.apple.com/choose-country-region . After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options.

WiFi/Internet connection difficulties are usually an indication that your device does not have a routable IP Address - your IP Address usually being assigned by DHCP. When problems occur, your iPad/iPhone may only have a self-assigned link-local IP address that begins 169.254.x.x.

You can verify your DHCP-assigned IP Address from settings:

Settings > WiFi > [Your WiFi Network / SSID] - tap the blue “i” icon - [IPv4 Address] IP Address

If you have a VPN App or profiles installed, or a security/AV/firewall App such as Norton, these may be interfering with DHCP and preventing your device from obtaining a valid IP Address for the WiFi network to which you are attempting to connect. The resolution is usually simple; if installed, you may only need to temporarily disable or remove the Security App and/or VPN.

DHCP is frequently used to automatically obtain an IP Address. Until your device has a valid IP Address to connect to your network, you will not have an internet connection. Disabling or removing VPN and/or the offending security App should allow DHCP to operate normally - allowing connection to your network and the internet.

If this resolves your issue, the VPN and/or security App can be reinstated after the connectivity problem has been resolved.

If some Apps are working as expected, while others are not - or other devices can connect to your WiFi network - you may find that a restart of your WiFi Router, followed by a restart of your device will clear the problem….

To restart your router, disconnect power from the router for at least 30 seconds - then reconnect power to restart. After your router reboots (which may take several minutes), force restart your iPad/iPhone:

Force restart iPad - Apple Support

Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

If you continue to have difficulties, check to see if your iPad/iPhone is using the WiFi Private Address feature. This feature is intended to provide additional privacy and security when using “public” (untrusted) WiFi networks.

Settings > WiFi > [Your WiFi Network / SSID] - tap the “i” icon - Private Address

The Private Address feature is largely unnecessary for your home WiFi network; if enabled, Private Addressing can cause issues if specific MAC addresses are expected by your WiFi Router. You may need to disable this feature - and can be enabled or disabled for each individual network.

I have same problem with 3 week old IPhone 16 pro max. Took to Buchanan St store today and was told as there was nothing showing on tests to say phone was faulty I would perhaps have to pay if a repair was attempted. I bought phone from Very and told have to send back to them. Asked to speak to manager and he was disgraceful, total attitude with me and told me didn’t work in his store so nothing wrong with it take him a video of it happening and he will believe at that point, advisor saw it happening in store but backtracked when manager became involved. What has happened to Apple? Used to be impressed with their customer service and positive attitude but Glasgow obviously didn’t get the memo

Having the same issue with all Apple devices in my household .

2 iPhones 15 Pro Max

3 iPads 10th generation

5 Apple TVs (variety of versions)

haven’t checked iMac or MacBook

I keep getting a message that my WiFi password is wrong but when I switch to the same routers “guest” WiFi with the same exact password it accepts just fine. Never had an issue like this until today. Slowly but surely all the devices would not work on the regular WiFi account.

They are shocking the way I was treated in store around this and being looked at as a fool and it couldn’t possibly not be working as worked in store. I have managed to get it working again by doing a full reinstall via comp rather than an upgrade only through loooking through web did this come to light. I’m finished with Apple not worth the hassle or extra costs

Try this -

Settings > WiFi > Other Networks > Other...

You then come to the possiblility to enter the SSID manually, choose the encription, and the password.

I managed to log in, using this "bypass"

Choosing the WiFi network from the "list", doesn't work (for me, after iOS 18.3.2)

Apple, I think there is some issue with the "unseen" choice of encription modes
