Print/scan using Brother printer

I've been using a Brother MFC-L2750DW printer/scanner with my MacBook Pro with no problems. Recently, at least temporally related to upgrading OS to Sequoia (15.3), I can no longer scan using the Brother iPrint&Scan utility although printing is fine. Also installed app on my iPad and operates normally.

I've seen issues related to this from others a couple of years ago. I've done all the checking re communication of devices, re-installed everything, etc with no luck. Seemed like there was a driver issue so installed an older driver from Brother but no help. When loading app from Apple Store, got a message that the app doesn't support my MacBook Pro but no alternatives and it had been working fine.

Does anyone have this kind of experience? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This won't help much but I have a Brother DCP-L2540DW and iPrint&Scan works fine with it.

What really seems strange is the message you got about the app not supporting your MacBook Pro. According to the Compatibility section of the iPrint&Scan app on the Mac App Store, the only requirement is macOS 12 or later.

I have an M1 iMac running macOS 15.3.2. Whatever that error message issue is, it seems unrelated to the specific printer involved.

Here are a couple of points which may be useful. Whenever we install an operating system upgrade or some OS updates, printers and scanners will often stop working. Then a new OS compliant software must be installed for the scanner. A new separate printer driver may also be needed. It too must be specifically compliant with the installed operating system. What you can do is to thoroughly check the vendor's web site for updated compliant scanning software that works. If none is available, then you should ask when it will be released. If that doesn't work, you can try scanning using Apple's Image Capture app. It will scan, but is not full featured. Another alternative is to download and try the full featured scanner software from VueScan. You can try it for free. It will show a watermark until you purchase it. I bought it and can recommend it. I have no association with VueScan. Good luck.

Thanks for your comments. I also thought the compatibility was strange, especially given that it was working fine earlier. I do think that the fact it worked on my iPad and not the Mac as they stated perhaps suggested it was just on the edge re compatibility and the updated iOS pushed it over. Appreciate the help.

Thanks, Ronasara. I did try and look carefully at different, earlier drivers and installed one that had been referenced in another support discussion from a couple of years ago. I'm not an expert so may have missed something. I saw someone in an older discussion also point to VueScan as well. While I am annoyed that I couldn't scan with a pretty new scanner because there wasn't compatible software (not sure whether responsibility is more with Apple or Brother), I got VueScan and immediately worked well. Appreciate the help.

As I said, the software, whether for printing or for scanning MUST say that it works with the currently installed OS. Sometimes printer drivers which are "older" will work with the new OS but that can't be counted on. Glad you are back up and running.
