Moving a SIM card from one iPhone 8 to another are Wallet contents lost?

I want to temporarily use a different phone for travel. There are tickets bought on my existing iPhone 8. If I shut down the phone and don't use it until after I return and move the SIM card to another phone, will my number temporarily move to that phone, and will the wallet remain intact on the original phone as long as I don't turn it on before I put the SIM card back in the old phone before turning it on?


I really have no need for those tickets while I travel since I otherwise buy things on a regular credit or debit card without the phone's help.

Just for context, tickets can be removed and added again using the issuers website or mobile app.


Wallet contents are not synced through iCloud for security reasons. Each card will be listed in Previous Cards in your Wallet app and need to be reverified in order to use them with Apple Pay.


Just a personal opinion, but fraud can be a huge issue traveling. My wife and I travel fairly frequently and we each carry one physical card and the others are in our iPhones.


Theft of iPhones can be an issue so make sure you’re prepared if a device is stolen. Apple Pay is the safest way to pay.
