Did you see a warning message saying: “The disk you attached was not readable by this computer,” with options like Eject, Ignore, and Initialize? You should choose the Ignore option.


This message appears because macOS doesn't natively support Windows BitLocker encryption. However, if you have the correct password, you can use third-party apps like M3 BitLocker Loader for Mac to safely mount, open, read, and write to your BitLocker-encrypted drive. Other open-source software may be available, but they usually require more technical knowledge as they tend to be harder to use and might even need to be compiled.


Another option is to install Windows 11 in a Virtual Machine to unlock and decrypt the BitLocker drive.


(Update: If you don't have the password or recovery key, you won't be able to unlock or access the drive, regardless of the software you try.)
