how the os behaves when pressing a key/letter

this is what happens if I press a key/letter anywhere. how do I change it back so that a becomes aaaaaaaaa

for example, sorry if my explanation s not so good! please help

There hasn't been a repeating key feature in macOS for about ten years now.

Some character do repeat - mostly punctuation - but not letters.


I've not tried it, but you might take a look at this: https://www.iphonetricks.org/keyboard-repeat-not-working-macos-ventura-fix/. It's a few years old, requires a quick trip into Terminal and may be specific to macOS Venture. But may be worth a try.
