Pages not displaying text contents

iMac, purchased in February of 2025, running with Sequoia 15.3.2, does not display text contents of existing Pages documents when App is opened. Contents are there but text not displaying, as evidenced when Command/A is used to discover text in the document. In order to force the contents to display the computer has to be restarted. However, this solution lasts just for one use of the Application. Even creating a new Page document text does not display until the computer is restarted.

I do not believe anyone before you over the years has had this issue with Pages on any version of macOS.

  1. Is Pages v14.3 installed on the internal startup drive's Application folder of this iMac? You need this version with macOS Sequoia.
  2. When you select all text, does the Text Color on the Format > Text panel show white, or black text?
  3. Does this white text on a white background clear up after you have rebooted the Mac, then pressed and held the shift key while launching Pages — followed by opening a Pages document?
  4. Have you booted your Apple Silicon iMac into Safe Boot mode and run Pages there?
    1. Did the white-on-white issue disappear in this mode? If it did, it is likely caused by other software you may have installed. (See 5 below)
    2. Reboot normally.
  5. Did this issue with Pages begin when you first ran Pages, or after you installed other software (e.g. so-called "Mac Cleaning" or any anti-virus software)?
    1. If you did install that parenthetical software, I advise you to entirely remove it per the vendor's instructions, and reboot your Mac. It can cause conflicts.
    2. Some of this category software may flag internal application files in Pages as malware or virus and remove it, thus damaging the application.

Thank you for your quick reply. The iMac is brand-new. I have not migrated any thing from my old iMac to the new, hence, Apple proprietary programs are up to date and correct.

However, reviewing your response made me think about the third-party programs I expect to use (2 of Adobe's CC programs, Camera Bits' Photo Mechanic, Steinberg's Dorico) Adobe was not the problem and I have yet to load Dorico. The culprit was Camera Bit's Universal version of Photo Mechanic. There was also an App Store Mind-Puzzle that was an offender.

The behavior I had expected was that the third-party programs would simply not work with the silicon chip. Thank you for helping me to find and eliminate the problem. In this instance, I am glad it turned out to be an easy find.
