The "Music" application should be an option. It will cause iTunes to show only audiobooks and podcasts.

See the response to this discussion; Audiobooks - iTunes and Apple Music - Apple Community from fellow user tt2. He suggests uninstalling Apple Music, Apple Devices and Apple TV so that iTunes can be used in the conventional manner.

Only once you uninstall those applications can you do what you want.

By using iTunes (the programme) on your computer, or if you are using a newer Mac, use the Mac's built in Finder application.

If you require more information, please let us know whether you have:

    • a Windows PC (and whether you have iTunes installed on it)
    • an older Mac (using OS Mojave or earlier), in which case iTunes should already be installed
    • a newer Mac, using oS Catalina or later, in which case you will use Finder (as there is no iTunes for it)

Also tell us whether or not you know how to use iTunes.

I have been using iTunes for 20 years and the last time I synced my 2nd gen iPod was approx 1-year ago

the ipod is not recognized in my Mac Air with Catalina or my PC with Windows 11

My PC iTunes was removed and replaced by Music during an auto update by Apple, I am not a subscriber.
