Why is Nebula App still available on the App Store despite reports?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to raise awareness (and ask for help or clarification) about an issue I experienced with an app called Nebula: Horoscope & Astrology that is still available on the App Store.

I downloaded it expecting a fun personality test and paid $1 for a soulmate reading. However, a few days later, I was charged $39 without any warning or agreement to a subscription. There was no clear indication during checkout that this was recurring or even part of a subscription model.

When I tried to cancel through the app, the “My Plan” screen just showed a loading spinner and nothing else. There was no way to unsubscribe, and support never responded to my messages. I had to cancel my card through my bank to stop further charges.

After digging around online, I found dozens of similar complaints — unauthorized charges, fake reports, and no way to cancel. Some users reported identical "personal" reports being sent to everyone.

What concerns me is that this app is bypassing Apple’s native subscription system by using external processors. That makes it harder for users to cancel or report the problem through Apple.

My question is:

Why is this app still allowed on the App Store?

Is there a way to officially report this to Apple so it can be reviewed for violating App Store policies?

Would appreciate any advice or escalation path. This seems like a clear violation of trust, and I’m honestly shocked it’s still up.

Thanks in advance.

For users having trouble with the Nebula subscription charges, it is not due to the app. Those users have been directed to their website for a free reading that also signed them up for a free trial and are being billed for the subscription directly. The referral link that was used most likely came from a Social Media post or website advertisement where they were paid for that referral.

They also have an app, but you would have been charged whether you downloaded the app or not. That is not unusual and there are many other companies that also have a website subscription that are not managed by Apple and an app. For example, Netflix, YouTube, Walmart, all have subscription options on their website that have nothing to do with Apple. Just because they also have an app does not mean that Apple has any control over the subscription that was started.

For a subscription made with the actual Nebula app using an in-app purchase, you can cancel those easily since they are managed by Apple and cancelled the same way you cancel any subscription. If you want to report the website as a scam, that can be done here:

also had a bad experience with Nebula: Horoscope & Astrology. I signed up for a 3-day "free trial" after seeing an ad, expecting a $5 one-time reading. A week later, I was charged $49.99 without agreeing to a subscription. The app’s "My Plan" section wouldn’t load, support didn’t respond, and their email bounced. I found many similar complaints online—unauthorized charges and no way to cancel. I disputed the charge with my bank and got a new card. I’m frustrated that this app is still on the App Store despite these issues and reported it to Apple, but nothing has changed

You signed up for the subscription on the Nebula website and you should also cancel on the website. It makes no difference if you had the app or not, you would be charged for the subscription because you have already agreed to those terms on the website that is billing your directly. The app does not even need to include a method to cancel the website subscription within the app, so having it not working is irrelevant. Apple only manages subscriptions made with an in-app purchase. The location of the link you used to direct you to the website was paid for the referral, so you may want to evaluate that source as being not trustworthy. If you want to report the website you can do that here: https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/
