Can I get free AirPods Pro replacement for microphone defect outside of warranty?

Hey guys, my AirPods Pros are having microphone issues. The microphones don't work at all - they pickup no sound whatsoever. There was never any damage inflicted, they ironically decided to have issues the day after my apple care warranty was up. I purchased them new in Nov 2022 with apple care and the 1 year warranty & apple care warranty are both done. I know it sounds silly, but I did see a TikTok stating that you can have them replaced for free (the AirPods, not the case) if they're under 3 years old and they showed a screenshot from Apple's support page stating so. I chatted with apple support and they quoted me at $273 if they need to be replaced, which is more than buying a new pair...obviously not going that route, but is it actually possible to have them replaced for free outside of warranty if the issue is a defect?
