Not happening. The iPhone X can never update to iOS 17, let alone iOS 18 or the forthcoming iOS 26. iOS 16 is the end of the line.

You cannot update it from iOS 16 to iOS 17 or higher. Thus, if you are already running the latest release of iOS 16, your iPhone X'will tell you that it is up to date.

The most recent update for iOS 16 was iOS 16.7.12.

If you already have that, there are no more updates for the iPhone X. The iPhone X cannot update to iOS 17, iOS 18 or iOS 26.

iOS 16.7.11 is the end of the line for the iPhone X, You need an iPhone XR or later to get iOS 17, and 18, but I do not recommend the iPhone XR, XS or XS Max, because the phones that I've just listed DO NOT get the new iOS 26 update, you need an iPhone 11 or later to run iOS 26, what I recommend is get an iPhone 12 or later, because the iPhone 11 might lose support aswell next year, don't make my mistake.

iOS 17 or 18 require an iPhone XR or newer.

If you need a phone capable of running anything higher than iOS 16.7.10, then you'll need to retire your iPhone X and buy a new or newer, iPhone which can run higher level iOS versions.
