Critical DCPEXT2 PANIC Error When Using ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM with Mac Studio M2 Ultra
Hello,
I am using a Mac Studio M2 Ultra with the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM (90LM09T0-B01370) and experiencing a critical issue that causes unexpected system restarts.
Issue Description:
While working in Adobe Photoshop, the system crashes and reboots, displaying the error DCPEXT2 PANIC. Based on the crash report, the issue appears to be related to the display co-processor (Display Co-Processor).
The issue occurs on three different versions of macOS:
-macOS 14.x.x (pre-installed on the Mac)
-macOS 13.7.2
-macOS 15.3.2
I have tested different connection methods:
-USB-C
-HDMI
The issue persists in both cases.
Notably, Mac Studio M2 Ultra units connected to the ASUS PA329CV (90LM06P1-B01170) do not experience these issues, suggesting a potential compatibility issue between the ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM and macOS.
Questions:
What does the DCPEXT2 PANIC error indicate? Is it related to the graphics subsystem of the Mac?
Are there any known compatibility issues between the Mac Studio M2 Ultra and the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM?
Are there any macOS updates or firmware patches available to address this issue?
Does Apple recommend any specific display settings (refresh rate, HDR mode, etc.) for stable operation with this monitor?
