RECOMMENDATIONS? Looking for alternative (but not replacement) for Photos

Looking for recommendations for apps others have used, so appreciate any input.

Essentially, what I'm looking to do is keep two parallel Photo libraries.

Wind up taking a lot of "documenting" photos that include things like screenshots, reference images from client sites, etc. (Okay... *all* images are "documenting, but you get what I mean.) These are things that will need to reference later.

Contrast this with "memory" photos (think things like sunsets, vacation photos, photos of friends, etc). This would be the more traditional use that most people have.

Problem is both categories being dumped into one singular library. Would rather be able to pull them apart, so don't have to look at one category while trying to find and image in the other category.

Plus, it would just be cleaner to keep them separate.

Photos (and iPhotos previously) could manage multiple independent libraries. But on the Mac only. AKAIK, iOS won't. (Please correct me if I am wrong!)

Don't really need any editing capabilities in the second app... Just viewing and sorting into folders/categories.

So, for criteria for 2nd app, guess this would be the list:

  • Mac and iOS versions, and sync between each
  • Copy of library kept locally on iOS (presumably the Mac version has its own local library)
  • All local storage (Hard drives are cheap. My iOS devices are big.) Would rather avoid any cloud-dependance for image access/storage.
  • No subscription. And minimal cost. The Second app is basically just a photo viewer... don't need a lot of complex features ($$).
  • Ability to read Photos library by 2nd app and move photos out of that library. (Don't anticipate moving photos BACK the other way, unless maybe something accidentally gets moved. At that time I can just manually manage the image on the Mac.) This would be nice on iOS specifically. Like right after a series of photos have been shot. Be nice to move them right away, rather than wait until back at Mac.
  • Tags, keywords, folders. Basic organization. Some to be done at time shot (when remembered). Bulk editing later on Mac, where it is easier.

I've looked at a few options so far:

  1. Photos - Don't believe iOS supports multiple libraries. Otherwise this would be fine. (And would not involve additional apps.)
  2. Mylio - Hear good things, but has monthly cost.
  3. Synology Photos - Don't believe any images kept on iOS. Need internet to access images?
  4. Flickr, Picasa, Google, etc - Cloud. Don't want a service...
  5. Lightroom - Subscription. (Think I have this already as part of CC.) But also don't think library is kept locally.
  6. HashPhotos - This looks pretty good, actually. I think it hit most of the bullet points above. Only there isn't a Mac companion per se. Think the iPad version can be used on M-chip Macs, but it has limited functionality. They do say a Mac version is in future development.

Have looked through the forums for similar questions, but most of the other requests are more complex (more features). Just looking for Album storage, with basic sorting.

Anyone have recommendations for things not on the list? Hoping someone has something they have used and quite like...
