sequoia 15.3 Airplay not called Airplay anymore?

Have managed to mirror screen MacBook Pro to my samsung smart tv finally, using Displays, but it wasn't easy. Support keeps sending you to settings-general-airdrop, and that goes nowhere but another apple device.

Nothing in Sequoia is named Airplay. Don't understand the change in terminology nor the lack of clear answers in searches for solutions

Regarding terminology when streaming from a Mac, they use the AirPlay terminology in the "Stream photos or videos from your iPhone or iPad to your Mac" section of: Stream video and audio with AirPlay - Apple Support

Regarding mirror a Mac on a TV, they don't use that terminology. See the following excerpt from the same support article:

Mirror your Mac on a TV

  1. On your Mac, click  in the menu bar.
  2. Click , then select your TV.
  3. If asked, enter a four-digit code on your Mac.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to choose whether to share a window or to mirror or extend your Mac screen on your TV. Select Set as Default to save your preferences and skip this step the next time you connect to a TV.

To change your selection, click , then click Change. To add additional windows, click Add Window. When you’re done sharing, click the Stop button.

Thanks for your reply.

yes, but it takes you to airdrop, and only has option for receiving video and audio from nearby apple devices on my mac. apple to apple.

Nothing to connect to a samsung smart tv on the same network, as used to be listed under "displays" in previous system. This i finally discovered under 'displays' in Sequoia, and next to the built-in display icon there is a tiny little + button that pulls down and lists devices on the network (including the samsung tv). Come to think of it, the process wasn't that straightforward on the previous system..

thanks I see that now. Nothing in the Google search gets past the apple to apple streaming. either it was more visible in the previous system--been a while since i upgraded--or i'm getting to the age where i'm just to old to be using a computer. maybe google is the problem. I'll go with that.

appreciate your help!
