100% battery calibration 15 Pro Max parameters?

What are the parameters for the forced 100% charge to facilitate battery calibration on an iPhone 15 Pro Max iOS 18.3.2?

Charge limit set to 80%. When it insists on charging to 100% I keep it plugged in until 100% then do a steady drain to 30%. Sometimes it then adheres to the 80% limit, sometimes it immediately cranks from 30% to 100%.

What must be done to get it to "recalibrate" only once rather than repeatedly over stressing the battery? Manufacture Date August 2023. First Use September 2023. Cycle Count 75. Maximum Capacity 100%.

You have no control over this. When I tried Charge Limits for a few months, the battery would sometimes charge to 100% a couple of times a month, even more on occasion. Here is what Apple says in their support document:

So, the real question here is how often "occasionally" might be.

So, I ignore the Charge Limit settings, which I think are more of a gimmick than anything else, but that might be another discussion.

Thanks for the reply Bob. 1)The charge limit has always worked for me. 2)The frequency of the recalibration to 100% is fairly consistent and is not the concern. 3)The problem is, putting it bluntly, "Do you, iOS, *really* need to go to 100% and down to 30% multiple times in one day?" 4)Further, why is once sometimes enough but other times not?

As you can see, my battery is in primo shape so that can't be the cause of the erratic behavior.

Sorry, I am not following this at all

I have never seen the battery in my iPhone do this. I use Optimized Battery Charging and connect the phone to the power adapter at night and leave it connected all night.....every night. The next evening, the battery might be down in the 10-20% range when I reconnect the power adapter again.

If Charge Limits work for you....fine. If I get 3-4 months less battery life after 3-4 years, than a user who is using Charge Limits, I could care less. I don't have to charge the phone as often, the battery starts each day at 100% and goes until I am ready for bed at night, when I connect the power adapter again and leave it connected all night.

4)Further, why is once sometimes enough but other times not?

Again, I am not following this. Except for using Optimized Battery Charging and connecting the power adapter to the phone at night, I pay little or no attention to the battery.

When the battery is down to 80% Maximum Capacity, I will replace the battery. In the meantime, I won't worry about it.

When I tried Charging Limits, of course I had to charge the battery more often, since it would not last all day long. That more frequent charging has to take a toll of some kind.

Somehow, users got along just fine for 15+ years without Charge Limits. I'm not saying don't use them if they work for you, but I get better performance and charge the battery less often by ignoring Charge Limits.

Hopefully, a Charge Limit "fan" will post to provide another perspective and comment on the 100% Up 30% Down multiple times a day that you mention.
