.Do you, iOS, *really* need to go to 100% and down to 30% multiple times in one day?"
Sorry, I am not following this at all
I have never seen the battery in my iPhone do this. I use Optimized Battery Charging and connect the phone to the power adapter at night and leave it connected all night.....every night. The next evening, the battery might be down in the 10-20% range when I reconnect the power adapter again.
If Charge Limits work for you....fine. If I get 3-4 months less battery life after 3-4 years, than a user who is using Charge Limits, I could care less. I don't have to charge the phone as often, the battery starts each day at 100% and goes until I am ready for bed at night, when I connect the power adapter again and leave it connected all night.
4)Further, why is once sometimes enough but other times not?
Again, I am not following this. Except for using Optimized Battery Charging and connecting the power adapter to the phone at night, I pay little or no attention to the battery.
When the battery is down to 80% Maximum Capacity, I will replace the battery. In the meantime, I won't worry about it.
When I tried Charging Limits, of course I had to charge the battery more often, since it would not last all day long. That more frequent charging has to take a toll of some kind.
Somehow, users got along just fine for 15+ years without Charge Limits. I'm not saying don't use them if they work for you, but I get better performance and charge the battery less often by ignoring Charge Limits.
Hopefully, a Charge Limit "fan" will post to provide another perspective and comment on the 100% Up 30% Down multiple times a day that you mention.
