calendar Sharing error

When my parents shared the calendar I got a notification from the calendar app saying “(person) has invited you to join a calander” I clicked accept invite and then nothing changes then I get an email from ICloud saying “Calendar Home

This calendar is no longer shared.” However my parents never stoped sharing or interacted with the phone. This is frustrating as nothing we seem to be doing is making it better.
