I’m always willing to install the latest and greatest from Apple. But I go in with my eyes wide open and have the skill sets to generally resolve the issues I can. I generally know when it’s something that needs Apple.
I also can generally tell when it’s a third party app issue and when it’s an Apple iOS or hardware issue. If you’re not confident in your troubleshooting and resolving issues skill sets, then maybe wait a few days to a week or so.

Millions of iPhone users will, undoubtedly.

Updates usually contain bug fixes as well as feature enhancements and security patches.
Many millions will update automatically.
Some will see fixes and others will see new issues. It's always been that way.
Keep in mind that even if an update does absolutely nothing at all except restart your iPhone.....that a significant number of users will claim that that the new update messed up their phone.
My phone updated while I was taking a Zoom call on my Mac. When I finished a half hour later I found my iPhone 12 Pro now had a completely unresponsive touch screen. I have done about a thousand forced resets and tried uploading software but can't move beyond the "swipe up to restore" message when the phone reboots.
This is highly disappointing because I do not have a current backup and the phone worked perfectly before the update. I hope Apple developers will work out this glitch because it's rendered my phone totally useless and lost months of photos/data.
Hi,
this is what apple annonced for IOS 18.4:
Apple’s iOS 18.4 update introduces several new features and enhancements:
However, some users have reported issues with CarPlay connectivity, including malfunctioning entertainment systems and connection failures with various car brands.
Regarding the problems you experienced with iOS 18.3.2, specific fixes were not detailed in the available sources. It’s advisable to review the official release notes or consult Apple’s support resources for information on resolved issues.
I do not use a vpn. After loading 18.4 on my phone it appears to be working normally now.

That's great. That alone was worth updating your phone!

I updated the moment it was released yesterday. No issues for me whatsoever. But then I had NO issues with iOS 18.3.2 either.
I too have generally had good luck with the apple updates for Mac OS, iOS and iPadOS for many years now. I cannot honestly remember if any of these releases have caused problems. However 18.3.2 absolutely broke my iPhone 12 Pro Max from utilizing WiFi correctly. I use my phone to control my ROON server which resides on my M1 Mac mini. I am currently downloading 18.4 as I write this hoping that it will solve my phones issue.
Could the WiFi chipset in my phone be going out? I’m sure it is possible but it has never happened before going all the way back to the original iPhone I purchased.
I have also done every tech “fix” for WiFi issues I could find to no avail.

Do you use a VPN on your iPhone?
Not sure about what good it does but it has had some frustrating issues. I can no longer select multiple emails to move to differnt folders. It just stops the process and deselects the emails. I always have my phone on silent and now it rings even when the silent switch is engaged and my volume is down. I hate it and wish this would get fixed immediately .
No I have not nor will I ever jailbreak my iPhone!!! To do that means the warranty is null and void! The CarPlay was working fine then stopped and I tried all solutions offered even different USB cords! Phone is Bluetooth to the car and Siri works! USB won’t connect in the car anymore but it connects my phone to different computers and other items.
Absolutely false! Software and Application updates are always the manufacturers responsibility. The wifi issues with this latest update are absolutely 100% Apples issues. They hide the software update information for purely legal ramifications.
Was your device Jailbroken? If that's the situation, please be informed that attributing the issues to iOS updates may not be accurate.
I have been updating my devices ever since I bought my first device in 2009. iPhone 3Gs, 4S, 5, 6, SE (1st Gen), 7, 8 and iPhone 12 Pro, iPad Pro, iPhone 13, Macbook Air 2019, MacBook Pro 16"
I never had any issues with any iOS, iPadOS, or macOS updates to date.
I would personally recommend everyone update their devices instead of listening to rumors from people who may not have kept their devices free from any spurious software.
iOS / iPadOS devices cannot be hacked or infected with Virus / Malware / Spyware if it is updated to the latest iOS/iPadOS unless you have intentionally downloaded spurious software or unauthorized apps directly from the internet and installed them on your device or/and have Jailbroken.
iOS updates generally aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. Issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.
This seems purely coincidental so please check the Setting on your device.
