Play audio from iPad to Macbook
I am experiencing difficulties in routing audio from my iPad through my MacBook Air M1 using Inter-Device Audio and MIDI (IDAM). Despite following standard procedures, I am unable to play audio from the iPad through the MacBook's speakers.
Devices and Software:
- MacBook Pro (2019): macOS 15.3 Sequoia
- iPad Pro (3rd Generation): iPadOS 18.3.2
Steps Taken:
- Connected Devices: Used a USB-C to USB-C cable to connect the iPad to the MacBook.
- Audio MIDI Setup: Opened the Audio MIDI Setup application on the MacBook. The iPad appears in the device list and is enabled.
- Sound Settings: Attempted to set the iPad as the audio input/output device on the MacBook. However, audio played on the iPad doesn't route through the MacBook's speakers.
Troubleshooting Attempts:
- Alternative Applications: Tried using different apps on the iPad to rule out application-specific issues.
- Different Cables: Tested with another USB-C cable to eliminate potential cable faults.
- System Updates: Ensured both devices are running the latest software versions.
- Different Device: Tested with my iPhone as well, getting the exact same issue.
Observations:
- The iPad is recognized in the Audio MIDI Setup on the MacBook.
- Despite recognition, audio from the iPad doesn't play through the MacBook's speakers.
Request for Assistance: Has anyone experienced similar issues with IDAM? Are there additional settings or steps I might have overlooked to successfully route audio from the iPad through the MacBook? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
