I Can't Re-download Bought Album on Apple Music

I've been trying to re-download an album on Apple Music (on Mac Studio) and haven't been successful. Going to the "Purchases" section of the "Account" button on the upper left of my screen and clicking the download button doesn't work, as well. Can anyone help me out? I really don't want to lose access to my music on Mac.

Mac Studio, macOS 15.3

This is not uncommon and it's often not even remotely your fault.

There are many different reasons you might not be able to download a track from Apple which you've already purchased. Here are the three most common that I've encountered:

  1. If your local database has an incorrect path to the file, which can happen if you move your music library and/or rename any of its parent directories
  2. If the record label, artist, Apple, or any combination of the three decides to remove the track from the region under which you purchased it (or if Apple removes the track from their store altogether)
  3. If the record label, artist, Apple, or any combination of the three decides to rename the track and/or the album from which the track originated
  4. If the artist releases an enhanced or remastered version of the track

In the first circumstance, you can usually find your local copy and everything will be fine. In any of the other three cases, you are usually out of luck, although I have sometimes been able to get a refund when that happens.

I have the same problem. The answers below do not help.

I am posting this in the hope that a reply addressing the issue will be received.

On my Mac I can get to the below screen by going through Account - Purchases (this is one artist). They do not download or at most one song will download. In music/iTunes only song previews will play.

You can see what the OP is talking about. There are download 'buttons' but they do not work.

BTW I can play some of them on my iphone, I believe the ones I purchased on my phone are the playable ones (on the phone) - not on my Mac .

Is it because they auto downloaded on my phone when I purchased them and they can only be downloaded once? That's fine but I expect to be able to play them (not just the previews) on other devices.

At the same time I am receiving repeated offers for a month free Apple Music. It feels like carrot and stick. I already pay for a lot of iCloud space, enough to cover my purchased music, thanks.

It is not a case of number of authorisations.

It is not a case of hidden purchases.

It is not a case of cancellation, renaming or reissuing of songs or song titles.

It is not a case of path to song because it worked fine until recently.

If I have nothing inside of the album in my library (the album does not exist in my library) and I try to download the album a few files are downloaded — around 6 out of the full 220 or so. If I have something inside of my album (like the 6 files), then whenever I click on the download button nothing happens except for the button displaying it has been pressed down. The button's visuals reset after leaving the page.

My album is "Satie: Complete Piano Works" by Sladjana Gajíc, if you need it.

Hi,

If you are signed into your Apple ID, or Apple Account as it is now called, in Apple Music, use the Songs view, and have the View option set to View > All Music, then the view should include all of your unhidden purchases, whether downloaded to the computer already, or in the cloud. Use View > Show Filter Field to reveal a search box at the top right and enter Satie to filter down the view. Assuming the album shows up you can stream the tracks in the cloud from there, or select, right-click, and Download from the context menu to download them.

If they don't show at all, and you have confirmed they are not hidden, you might try the https://reportaproblem.apple.com/ site.
