iPhone screen not turning on for notifications

My iPhone 14 Pro Max has an issue with notifications: when I receive one, the screen does not turn on, even though sound and vibration work correctly.

I have checked all the notification settings, and they are properly configured. I compared them with my previous iPhone and with a friend’s iPhone 14 Pro Max, and we have the exact same settings enabled. However, my screen does not turn on when receiving notifications, while theirs does.

Additionally, I have restored the phone to factory settings, but the issue persists. I even set it up as a new iPhone, without restoring a backup, yet the problem remains.

If Do Not Disturb (DND) or a Focus Mode is active, notifications can still be delivered with sound or vibration, but the screen may not wake up, depending on how the Focus settings are configured.

If you have Focus Modes set to allow notifications only with certain exceptions (e.g., from specific people or apps), your phone will still make a sound for those notifications but may not display them on the screen unless the phone is unlocked or actively in use.

See the pic below which is self-explnatory

So in summary, the sounds for notifications can still happen when DND or a Focus mode is enabled if the apps or senders are allowed within those settings. However, the screen waking up is a separate behavior that depends on your Focus mode configuration and whether it allows notifications to trigger the screen wake.

Thanks for your response! I really appreciate the suggestion.

However, I had already checked all Focus Mode and Do Not Disturb settings before resetting my phone. I made sure that no Focus Mode was active and that notifications were fully allowed. I even compared my settings with a friend’s iPhone 14 Pro Max, and we have the exact same configuration, yet my screen still doesn’t turn on when I receive notifications.

To rule out any software issues, I also performed a factory reset and even set up the iPhone as a new device without restoring a backup. Unfortunately, the issue persists.

Since none of these steps have worked, I’m starting to think this might be an iOS bug or a hardware-related problem.

But again, thanks for your help!
