Since I downloaded Sequoia a week ago, images will no longer group into the same window when I open a new one. I've tried changing the settings for this, restarting the programme, and restarting the computer, all to no avail. Is this a bug or is there some obscure way to fix this that's not done by Preview settings?

If you have a group of images open in Preview, just drag any additional images you want in the Thumbnail sidebar.
EDIT: only now I saw dialabrain's post, so now we know it was there in Monterey.

I have tried this in Big Sur, and it offers "Open All files in one window".
I don't have access to a Mac running any of Monterey, Ventura or Sonoma at the time, so I can't pinpoint when this changed.

It’s one thing to open several images at once in the same window. It’s another thing altogether to have some window open in Preview, double click on an image in Finder and have it open in Preview in the same window.
The former works. The latter does not (and never hss, at leadt AFAICR).
There was a Preview preference in Monterey, "Open all files in one window". Don't know when it was removed.
Yes, there is of course that. This is a huge setback for my workflow though, as I'm working with multiple programmes at once and don't always have Preview visible. Opening a single image, opening a sidebar, and then dragging each new image in there when I open it makes my job run a lot slower. It's a workaround, but it's not nearly as useful as the option was before to simply be able to set all new images to auto open in the same window.

FWIW, it's also in Ventura. I don't have anything running Sonoma to check.
Indeed! It was a super helpful feature for me for work, as I work in editorial and need to work v quickly with lots of images! I've written to them, and here's hoping they'll bring it back! :S
