New MacBook Pro - Will not accept password

Bought new MacBook Pro M4 January. Several weeks ago, it started to not accept my password when in the sleep mode. Forcing a power off and then a performing normal power up clears the problem for a day or so, then the problem comes up again. I've had to force power off to clear the problem just about every other day.


Another entry problem is that keyboard entries in Excel, Word, and Scrivener, to mention a few, are not recognized immediately after opening the app. It takes several iterations of keyboard entries before the problem clears.


Both of the these items are annoying, distracting and never happened before I bought my new MacBook. Any suggestions.

you can use Keyboard Viewer to check that each and every key is generating the correct key-code:

when reading the article, be sure to choose your macOS version, as it operates a little differently in some versions.
