Why can't I upgrade macOS from Ventura to Sequoia on my MacBook Air with insufficient disk space?

Upgrading Airbook from Ventura to Seaquoia machine says it is not possible Why when system has prompted the upgrade. Printed to do the upgrade

not enough disk space cleared disk now says cannot be installed on Macintosh HD

When your computer says there is an update or upgrade available for download, there must be sufficient available space on your HD to receive a downloaded installation file. If not, you get the message you have received. In order to accept the download you will have to delete sufficient files to clear the needed space. I suggest that you add an external disk, then copy files onto it so they can the be deleted from the HD. Then you can do the downloads you need.

Click the Apple menu () at the top-left of your screen and then select About This Mac.

Please tell us what year is displayed there for your MacBook Air.
