Word will not open on Sequoia

After I updated my OS to Sequoia Word will not open. I spent hours on the phone with Microsoft, they uninstalled and reinstalled all new package and it still will not open. They say its an Apple problem, Apple says its a Microsoft problem. I just need my Word so I can write my 900 page paper for class!

Word works fine on Sequoia for me so I don't know what to tell you. You might try writing the paper in Pages instead.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of class requires you to write a 900-page paper? Doctoral dissertations don't tend to run more than about 300 pages for most fields.

What exactly happens when you try to launch word?

Any error messages? What? If there are error messages, post a screenshot.

Test 1: start your mac in Safe Mode. Does Word work then?

Test 2: make a new user account, log in to that account, and launch Word. Does it work?

My guess is that at least one, if not both tests, will have Word working.

Can you tell us?

In addition to IdrisSeabright's reply: which version of Word?

You may also be able to use the online version, if you have access (my license is paid for by my university, and I only use MS products very rarely, so I am not sure what licensing situation applies that lets one use the online apps).

I am also intrigued by this "900 pages"...
