How do I sort photos in chronological order on MacBook Air?

I really don't know why photo on iPad/iPhone behaves differently from organizing photo in MacBook. With a simple click on iPhone I can change the order. On the Mac I have to create albums, smart folders to do so. I simply want my newest photos on top and not scroll/jump down every time and not being bothered with extra work.

In Sequoia, you can sort the Library much like sorting an Album, and you can always have the most recent picture appear at the bottom where the Library view shows first.

You can use the menu "View>Sort>Sort by Oldest Date Added"

Unlike in an Album, you can't do a custom sort or sort by title.

If you have lots of pictures, then Albums can be a handy way to get to them quickly.

In the recent years quite few new features have first come to the iPhone and iPad and only later to the Mac.

But frankly, I would not want to have the mess we are having on the iPhone now with iOS18 on my Mac as well. As long as we are having the sidebar in Photos and are free to organize it as we like, it is easy even to navigate a very large library.
