iwatch series 2 locked due to too many passcode attempts

I was attempting to pair my old watch so that my child can use it but I thought the passcode was correct but it did not work. I tried again and nothing. My child at some point continued to play with it and so did I but we had no luck. Now we can't reset the old watch so that my child can use it for school. Can someone assist me with unlocking my series 2 iwatch. The message that the iwatch states is: "Too Many Passcode AttemptsReset Apple Watch And Pair Again." We restarted the watch multiple times and it does nothing. Please assist. It is so sad to pay so much money for a device not to work. I have heirloom watches that still work and this is more trouble and now useless.
