Apple Magic Keyboard does not lay flat?…

Why does the Apple Magic Keyboard not give you the ability to lay flat and are there any plans to add this feature?

For a tablet, this is a pretty clear feature that needs to be added. Especially with the push to use the Apple Pencil. I get it, there are other options but for a company the size of Apple to not have this feature for a keyboard design that is specifically for the iPad, this seems like a wild oversight.
