How can I stop scam calls on my iPhone?

My phone number was acquired in Oregon. I moved to AZ 20 years ago but kept that number. For the last months, I am getting several calls per day from Oregon, either scam calls, or trying to sell me something. I did not know what to do to stop it. I did talk to someone a couple of times that tried to sell me something I told them I was not interested, but it continues. I have blocked the calls, well over 100 numbers, but they still come in, a different Oregon number each time.

Is there a solution to this?

Yes, that is what I have been doing the last months. Wonder if I should not bother to block the calls, but just delete them.

Blocking the calls is not what I suggested, even though Apple uses the word block in the title of the article. It is a different option than blocking individual numbers. If you do the following, it is not the same as blocking individual numbers and you don't need to block calls anymore. Here is my previous post again:

The option I use is Settings > Apps > Phone > Silence Unknown Callers.

Hey!

I hope you are doing well , and yes! I can understand your concerns on this and how irritating this can be.

Will be giving you the best option.

Go ahead and turn on "Silence Unknown Callers".

Steps pasted below:

Settings > apps > phone (you might need to scroll down to the bottom) > turn on "silence unknown callers"

You can find the details and articles mentioned : Detect and block spam phone calls

It isn't yet possible to block a range in iOS. But, there is a $2.99 item in the App Store that supposedly works very well for that.

There's also Simple Call Blocker, which is free.

I've thought of using the option, Silence Unknown Callers, but there's a big problem with that. There's a possibility someone you know is trying to make an emergency call to you from a hospital phone, police station phone or similar, rather than their cell phone. They would all end up going to voicemail. And who knows how long it may be before you notice you have voicemails waiting to be answered.

Put your phone on the Do Not Call registry. You can do it on their webpage. I have found that in the past this helps, but it is not always perfect, as unscrupulous scammer/vendors will ignore it.

I have found that by not answering, they usually give up. The iPhone is pretty good at usually identifying the calls as possible spam.
