I have to walk around with my Apple Watch locked the only way to view. The watch face is to press and hold the crown. Why do I have to do this? Is it in a lock state how do I unlock it?

Do you have a Focus enabled? I know that when the Sleep Focus enables, all I have is a faded time, and I need to press the Digital Crown to access the rest of my Apple Watch features.
I have to turn off my Sleep Focus via my iPhone’s control panel, if I’m up late at night and want normal Apple Watch access.

Do you have "Wake on Wrist Raise" enabled in Settings/Display & Brightness on your watch?

Sorry, but the built in hardware of the iPhone 6s does not support any further iOS updates than the latest version of iOS 15.
If you want to install iOS 18, you will need at least an iPhone XS.
