Your battery is not charging

While attached to a charger, my battery shows "Battery not charging" message.

• The power level keeps going down until it shuts off even if it's plugged
• Changing chargers, USB ports and outlets doesn't usually work
• Occasionally, it will charge after many tries of different combinations of the above but seems very random and can't quite replicate the successful attempts. Sometimes the same cable/charger/outlet/usb port combination will work and sometimes it won't
• Problem started a couple days ago
• Battery is flagged for servicing, but my Macbook is not under warranty anymore (it's been like that for more than a year) - would like to avoid spending money to repair if possible
• Resetting SMC and PRAM doesn't solve the problem
• My MacOS is fully updated (I updated it yesterday hoping it would solve the problem)
• Tried to charge it overnight, with and without apps running in background

Does anyone know if there is a fix I can try at home?
