unplug all non-essential peripherals when testing

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

Same here - on both Mac Mini 2020 M1 and Mac Studio 2023 M2 Max. Tried so many things already...

  1. upgrade after boot in Safe Mode
  2. Turn Off "Find My"
  3. Reinstalled OS in Recovery mode, then retried the upgrade
  4. Detach all un-required peripherals (left only with Keyboard and mouse).

To no avail. Please help with any hint, when you manage to recover from this.
