How do I turn off Stolen Device mode on iCloud for a found iPhone?

When the thread first appeared, the title was different. I don't believe they found a phone that they want to remove Stolen Device Protection. When they retitle things, it becomes murky, very often.

Please clarify. Did you lose your device and then find it, and now want to turn that feature off, or did you find an iPhone that was not originally yours that you want to use as your own?
