I simply wanted to check what the actual support team number is, and of course, it is not easy to find. I received a scam text about what I know this is a fraudulent charge, I’m sure the “support number” in the message is bogus, but why is it so hard to check against the actual Apple website?

There are literally hundreds of support numbers because they are a multinational technology company. In the US call 1-800-MY-APPLE. Outside US review the Apple Support article below.

On a second note, these kinds of texts are easy to spot as phishing attempts. No bank or financial company would ever release an email, text etc. like that.

What the message says is “We suspect the charge is fraudulent, but we charged you anyway.” Also the urgency of the message, there’s no urgency if you already put the charge through. A bank just shuts off the card.

Obviously I know that it is a scam. I say that. My question was not “is it a scam”, my question was “why is Apple’s support number for talking in real time about scams like this so hard to find?” Perhaps I needed to state it more clearly. And now I wonder why scam phone numbers are redacted here.

And I provided you with a link to Apple's support numbers.

The hosts redact the scam numbers to avoid people calling them thinking they are valid numbers.

Okay, thanks. Due to the spaces before the body of your response, it appeared to me that your entire response was that it was a scam. I’m sorry I come off sounding rude, I didn’t intend it. I was annoyed by my lack of clarity in my question. I wish I hadn’t posted because it sounds like spam or scolding. Please accept my apologies.

No worries! The forums can take a bit of getting used to. And, if you're reading on an iPhone, that adds a bit more complexity.
