Mac Mini M4 Pro Display Monitor Now Capped at 144hz

Good morning everyone!

I woke up this morning and realized that the display on my Mac Mini M4 Pro (24/512) is now capped at 144hz, down from the usual 240hz! I've been using a DisplayPort -> USB-C connection and the resolution, until this morning, was the usual 240. I am using the Alienware 2723DF 240hz 27" as my monitor.

Additionally, and I am not sure if this is related in any way, but my front two Thunderbolt 5 ports are also not able to recognize my microphone when plugged in. The Blue Yeti mute button lights up like it is plugged in, but is not available under the Output and Input options.

Any and all help with this (strange!) issue would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

What happens if you lower the display resolution..?

What grade and how long is your USB-C to DisplayPort cable..?

Try this:

Shut Down and disconnect everything.

Plug the Display into the rear port next to the HDMI port.

Startup the M4 Mac mini and begin reconnecting you other USB devices.

If the earlier display setting do not return, then your cable may be marginal or failing.

In that case, you need replace the USB-C to DisplayPort cable with a short high speed 8K 1.4 cable.

Not that it's likely to make a difference as far as your microphone is concerned, but the front-panel USB-C ports on your M4 Pro Mac mini are not Thunderbolt 5 ports. They're single-purpose ports "with support for USB 3 (up to 10 Gb/s)," and nothing else. No USB4, DisplayPort Alt Mode, or Thunderbolt.
