iPhone Calendar App-Google Calendar Sync Silently Failing

Greetings,

Having read that Google Calendar-iPhone calendar app integration is spotty on a number of posts here and elsewhere, I’m still hoping to figure out a solution.

Summary: somewhere between one and two weeks ago only one of the Google calendars synced to my iPhone stopped syncing, but there’s no indication on the iPhone that it’s not working.

I schedule the majority of the events for our family (almost always from my iPhone), and I have probably made dozens of events or scheduling changes during this time. I only realized there was an issue when I noticed that my work email address (to which I send nearly all family calendar events for coordination purposes) hadn’t received some of the events for this coming week. Initially I chalked it up to something on the work end except that my wife noted that none of the updates I’d made on my iPhone were showing on her phone under the synced Google calendar (in the iPhone calendar app), either. And they’re not on the Google Calendar when I log in from a browser, nor do events I create from there appear on my iPhone calendar app (though they do show up on other devices connected to the Google Calendar). So it’s clear that just my iPhone and the Google Calendar aren’t syncing.

I’m still able to send and receive emails on the iPhone with the same Google account, and updates that I make to a different Google account’s calendar that’s also synced with my iPhone work fine (I just updated one from my iPhone yesterday, and the update is visible on the Google Calendar from a browser).

Under different circumstances I would simply remove and re-add my Google account from/to my iPhone or toggle calendar syncing, however many updates exist only on my iPhone. I’m not even sure how many there are, and they might be as near as this week or as far out as months into the future. I’ll lose all of them if I sign out or turn off calendar sync, and I probably won’t even know which ones I’ve lost.

I’ve checked most of the suggestions I’ve read elsewhere (ensuring the calendar is synced, updating iOS—now on 18.4, waiting—I’ve been waiting weeks without realizing it, etc.), but I’m willing to try anything short of logging out or toggling off calendar sync. Or maybe you’ll all just say that’s the only fix, bye-bye local events that exist only on the iPhone.

Possibly crazy thought (and also tedious, time-consuming, and will not guarantee I don’t miss events): what if I went through and manually moved events from the Google Calendar that’s not syncing to the other Google Calendar that works, toggle the syncing for the Google account that’s not syncing, and if that fixes it, move all those events back to the original calendar? Might that work? I’m just afraid I’ll miss events in the calendar app, and once I toggle syncing they’ll be gone. [UPDATE]: nevermind, events on the calendar that’s not syncing, when I edit them, there’s no option for any other account, so I can’t move them.

Thank you.
