Absence of a scale on Find My map

Am I wrong in thinking that there is no scale on the Find My map?

Even Google Maps has a scale (in km/mi or m/ft as appropriate).

Yes, I can see that the item is 10,543km away from me, but on the FM map I cannot easily see how far it is from some other point of reference (such as a city) or how far apart two items of interest might be.

Any map should have, at a minimum, a scale and a north arrow.

Nor is there a way to copy the coordinates for use in a proper map application. Or is there?

This so pathetically bad. Let’s see how long it persists. I’m betting on forever but am open to being pleasantly surprised.

I wonder exactly how the map experience is made better by the absence of useful information that adds to context?

If you want to know where something is, it’s always in relation to the world around it. Thus scale and direction matter.

I suspect that only people whose entire experience of navigation is to sit in cars with satnav would design a map system so devoid of actual utility.

As Apple have had this same app for some years now I think the chances of it changing are indistinguishable from zero.

And none of the above would explain why you cannot easily copy the location coordinates. You know like on a real map app.

I think you're looking for functionality beyond FindMy, for that, use Maps. FindMy is intended to find things nearby. FindMy does include an ordinal rose (tap the arrow icon after selecting what it is that you wish to find) and the ability to get directions to the item (which opens Maps and there you can copy coordinates).
