When should I replace my iPhone XR?

My iPhone XR is 6 years old and still works well. When would be a good time to replace it? I am thinking of replacing it with the iPhone 13.

My advice would be to replace it when it no longer does what you need. Then, buy the most up-to-date model you can afford, thus ensuring you'll be able to keep it for a long time.

It depends on you. Since your current iPhone still runs well, the question is are there features in the newer iPhones you want? Or do you want to wait until your iPhone stops working to upgrade.

Note that Apple no longer sells the iPhone 13 and either way I wouldn’t recommend upgrading to that. Your iPhone XR was released 2018 and the iPhone 13 was released 2021, so that would only be a 3 year upgrade different. If you were to upgrade, Apple currently and I would suggest the latest iPhone 16 lineup.

Hello MarcusAJJ, I would say if it still works fine don't replace it. I replace my iPhone every 5years but honestly I didn't upgrade from my IPhone 7 until last year cause I stopped working. For a new IPhone 13, I do not recommend buying it. They are old and will lose their support earlier than if you bought a newer device. I would say if you were on a budget, IPhone 16e or Se. But if you are not i would say anything in the iPhone 15 or 16 lineup.

Thank you. The feedback has been very good. Since my phone still works well, with healthy battery, I will hold on to my phone. When I need to replace it I will evaluate a newer phone since it will be supported by Apple longer. Hopefully the tariffs will not price the phone out of my reach since I really like Apple.
